We also want to make sure that we live in the present and look to the future, as we to continue to collect and safeguard Grafton's contemporary history. For these reasons, we have started two community outreach events in the Fall of 2024:

Coffee Stories with the Grafton History Museum is an informal monthly gathering at MKT for coffee, to share stories and pictures and everything Grafton with whoever wants to join us for a casual chat.

Exchanging Stories with the Grafton History Museum is a monthly gathering at the Museum, where community members are encouraged to join us with their stories and pictures for a deep dive into targeted topics inspired by objects in our collections. Come to share what you know or just to learn more, all are welcome!

This is just the beginning of our IDEA 2024 project - we deeply appreciate the enthusiasm of our Grafton community for this undertaking, and look forward to being able to start the rollout of our expanded online resources as well as increased social media presence very soon.

Our goal in embarking on this multi-year project is to provide greatly expanded access to our collections and research materials for all users, reaching our local audience as well as a virtual online audience as far-reaching and diverse as possible. This initiative will provide valuable resources for Grafton residents and students, increase regional and national awareness of the Town of Grafton and its rich history, encourage researchers to include Grafton history and Grafton perspectives in their ongoing research, and provide visitors to Grafton with an enjoyable museum experience that can be as casual or in-depth as they want it to be. During the next few years, we'll be going through the museum collections to create a comprehensive digital record of materials, ensuring that we have as complete and accurate a record as possible of the collections, and contextualizing the items in Grafton history. At the same time, we'll be expanding our website and social media presence to ensure the virtual accessibility of the Grafton History Museum collections.
